First Look

Everyone is talking about ‘the first look’ right now. That moment when your eyes meet for the first time and you see your partners wedding look. These moments are captured by your photographer and posted on social media, it is a definite trend. But we know of another ‘first look’, it happens a lot, and has just this moment happened here.

A bride arrives, as we welcome her and talk through how the appointment will go, she is already scanning the rails at our collection. We offer brides the opportunity to browse our collection, this gives chance to feel fabrics, look at detailing and talk through styles. We select dresses to try and talk through each one, usually adding a wild card here and there. And then it happens, they fall in love and no other dress stands a chance.

Once the celebrating and congratulating calms, they so often say the words

‘You know, I spotted this dress as soon as we arrived and I knew it was the one’ - And there it is, the first look.

Anything but Average

Research says that the average dress size for UK women is now a 16. Research also shows that in 1958 a size 16 would have a 28 inch waist and a 37 inch bust, today those figures are 33 inches and 41. But we all know the numbers mean nothing, they vary from shop to shop and we never know WHAT we are. Wedding Dresses are the same, which is why we never speak in ‘size’, we speak in ‘fit’.

Over the last 12 months, we made a conscious decision to review our collection by size, and when the time came to choose new dresses we ordered 16’s, 18’s, 20’s, 22’s to ensure our sample dresses are a good fit, for all our brides.

New Year, New Dresses

We are kicking off 2024 with a steady stream of new dress gorgeousness from Justin Alexander. Back in June we selected new styles to add to our collection. We’d like to show you three which have arrived this month.

HUNTER

Gorgeous soft crepe column dress with a cowl neckline, beautifully beaded back and detachable cowl detail.

Simple elegance, a hint of sexiness, modern. Hunter is the perfect addition to our collection.

HATTIE

We are always drawn to the clean lines of a satin bodice, team that with a stunning tulle skirt decorated with oversized floral appliqués and you have the ultimate dress. The bodice has perfectly placed appliqués and a delicate trim on the neckline. Attention to detail overload. She’s a winner.

HARPER

After the amazing response sister dress ‘Fiona’ received, when we saw the same awesome neckline with a full skirt it was and easy decision, we HAD to have her. The full skirt has pockets, a cheeky leg split ( which is optional ) deep pleats for that modern feel and did we mention that neckline ? swoonworthy right ?
