Today I wanted to share some really pretty ideas to incorporate birds into your wedding decor and theme. Birds really complement vintage/retro looks and they can be used in many ways.

These favours are cheap to make and quirky looking – it’s easy to find bird die cuts online and order in the colour of your wedding – etsy is a great source of these. The sugared eggs are placed in 8 inch square pieces of tulle, tied with twine and the card bird can be hole punched to tie the twine through. Coloured twine can be bought at hobbycraft online or locally at their Lady Bay Retail Park store – a great source for all craft materials.

This idea is even easier! You could have different shades of your chosen colour around each table; or what about covering one side with patterned paper?

Now if you feel that you want to make your own birds from cute card, then what about having a go at these? Click here for the full, simple instructions. You could stick these onto the top of favour boxes, or on the side of lanterns. If you made bigger versions you could maybe decorate the end of the pews if you are having a church wedding.

Garlands like this look gorgeous for a small intimate wedding – not too difficult to make or get your florist to provide a garland and you can add your birdie cut outs.

This is a lovely idea that I’ve seen at a recent wedding – make a tree using collected strong twigs, planted in pale gravel. Your guests can write good wishes on the cut out bird cards.

So I know birds are not for everyone, but maybe these ideas will inspire you to use a different animal – maybe you are cat or dog lovers or what about butterflies?

Bye for now, Katrina
