What is your best advice leading up to / on the wedding day?

Try and savour every moment – that is my biggest piece of advice because the day itself flies by so quick, we keep saying it now feels like a lifetime ago and it was only in May!! The weeks and months leading up to the big day are so hectic with so much to do and organise, but in the end the most rewarding part of the day for myself and my Husband was seeing all our lovely friends and family having a fantastic time.

Issues that arise on the day are never planned for, but by that point it doesn’t matter and sometimes keeping things simple is key. Try not to overcomplicate details and do a few things well, rather than trying to do too much and make the day stressful. Also having a fabulous team (as we did with all our suppliers) makes for a more enjoyable process and day itself.

What is your most memorable moment of the day?

I think I have 2 – my first being when my Dad saw me in my dress and he gave me a big smile and said “you look as lovely as me”! When we went outside he got really emotional and I could tell he was trying to hold it together for the cameras and the rest of the wedding party, but when it was just me, my mum and him he couldn’t hold back the tears anymore.

My second memorable moment is seeing my Husband at the end of the aisle. I felt a million dollars and his face confirmed it, not a dry eye in the church. Brad gave me the biggest smile and seeing him cry really made me feel emotional, and seeing the videos and photos back afterwards brought all the emotion back.

How did The Wedding Room contribute to a positive build up to your day?

Mary and Lucy made me feel so welcome from the first day. It was just like going to see a couple of mates you have known for years! They have such an eye for what will suit you and I loved the whole process of picking out a few favourites and then they give you a ‘wild card’ that they chose – and they know their stuff because this was the dress I fell in love with!! Each follow up appointment was exciting and helped the wedding countdown get even more exciting.

Can you describe the first look?

My original criteria for a dress was long sleeves and lace detail that would fit the floral theme of the day. When I saw myself in a sleeve-less dress I was overwhelmed – I felt so pretty! It was such a lovely surprise that I felt so comfortable with my arms out, and I can remember saying “If I got married tomorrow in this without any prep, I’d be comfortable and happy”, and I feel like this is a good sign that my dress was THE one.

What did you love the most about your dress?

I loved everything about my dress, from the detail in the lace to the neckline, the open back and even the discovery of pockets!! The thing I love most was how figure flattering my dress was. The structure in the waistline sinched me in perfectly without being uncomfortable and being able to go bra-less made it even easier to wear! Comfort was the biggest criteria for me as I wanted to have one dress for the whole day with no outfit changes, and this dress let me do that with ease.
